How has the society dealt with racism?

Has the society done so much effort to stop discrimination? I believe it has not or then it would not be happening till today.  Our skin color should not matter for anyone
we should be comfortable in our own skin. Everyone seems to always be discriminated
by others, but most people believe that African Americans and Latino people don't
have a future in our community. We all come to the United States to have better
opportunities but when coming here is difficult because people would discriminate us by where
we come from. The identity should not matter of the race but the personality every individual has and their personal things that they like to do in their spare time.
As a child, you identify yourself by your childhood memories and the friends you had. Racism has changed, but not much they have done various protest about having equal rights than the white people but they seem to not care as much, as if it wasn't important
at all. In the past they would only serve white people, but now today everyone has the right to eat anywhere they would like but for people of color it hasn't changed as much, they fear for being discriminated by others. Black people have done so much so they can have equal rights the many times they protest and seems as
if it never changes. It is even difficult for the latino people, parents that want their child to have a better future for them so they end up leaving their hometown. Coming to a new place, isn't easy getting new jobs and getting used to new surroundings and learning a new language that they have not heard before. People at times would discriminate the latino people because supposedly they don't belong here and because of their skin color. People believe that latino people are criminals because of what the news say and the president we have now.
In schools, jobs even just walking outside people get discriminated and it just to fair how people are treated. White people even get discriminated but not as much as colored people because it seems that white people have more advantages than colored people.
We all should not care what skin color we are but we should all be united and have the same rights as anyone else.
In the novel, "The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man"by James Weldon Johnson showed that when he was a child his friends would call him a "negro" and he first didn't understand. When he told his mom if he was, she told him that he was but it shouldn't matter what he is. When he grew into an adult he saw how people tortured black people so when he saw that, he considered himself as a white person and not black. He was shocked on what people did to black people because only of their race. The racial discrimination is not only about the skin color but the cultures and beliefs other people have from where they come from. The community has done protest to stop discrimination but it has not changed as much as people wanted it to. People fear of the authorities, an example of inequality is a colored person is sentenced to jail and a white person is sentenced for the same thing the colored person did. It seems as if the white people get a warning or less time sentenced to jail while the colored person seems to get extra time but they both did the same crime how is that fair only because of the skin color. We all got our own identity and the personality we have should matter to us only.
There is other ways to set an example or show discrimination which can be a fairy tale, to a tv commercial explaining how there is discrimination anywhere. We as a society should accept everyone in every way and treat people as you want to be treated. Overall, nobody should be treated different we are should be the same to have the same rights and equality than any other. As children growing up, there are some cartoon that say a message to discrimination and any others problems that are happening in the society. Not only do they learn from what they watch, but how they are raised by their own parents.

One of a movement that is making a positive impact is the Black Lives Matter it
shows how they protest for the violence that us happening and the racism towards the black people. Racism has been important because every individual may have had a bad experience and they don't want t deal that no more so they have made this movement so bad experience won't happen ever again. There is many awareness going on in today's society and with people being supportive it could really turn into a good impact and possibly change things if we try our best.
